Corvette Mike & Camarato Bingo - they're on the case.

Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" is the jam of the summer. Don't give me any lip about Teairra Marí or Rihanna - "Make Her Feel Good" and "Pon de Replay" are good songs, but they aren't unique, and their staying power is tied to the download rate of their ringtone version. Maybe Mimi's is, too, but "We Belong Together" is the only song that had everyone singing along this summer.

Well, besides "Since U Been Gone." But that's a whole different article.

"...The hero gets up, the girl turns around, the high-haired guy falls down an elevator shaft. And you're the happiest person ever. Well, every single song the New Pornographers write is bound to that feeling. It's true: Twin Cinema is the must-see record of the year."

"These guys jam Amino."

It's more concept album action from John Vanderslice; this time around it's Pixel Revolt, with collaboration from another indie literati named John, alpha Mountain Goat John Darnielle.

With a new school year beginning, 2000 more puka-shelled dipshits will pick up a guitar and start writing a song about the girl in their bio class. As John Mayer's dull-eyed army grows ever larger, why not endorse a guy like Josh Kelley instead? At least he's having some fun with the AAA genre, taking cues from the calculated slinkiness of Maroon 5 instead of the stultifying strum of something like Mayer's "Daughters." Hey look at that, the 47th Annual Grammy Awards winners for Song of the Year and Best New Artist, all wrapped up in one album from Josh Kelley.
